Loneliness
Loneliness hurts. It is not to be mistaken for “being alone”. Being alone can be a choice, and solitude can be very nourishing for the spirit. Battling illness can feel so lonely and desolate even when surrounded by those you love most in life. Illness is experienced differently from person to person. It can be challenging to put the feelings you are experiencing into words. The reality is that you are not alone. You are never alone. You are a divine being, and you are loved.
As the blaring midday sun
scorched the blistering desert sands,
the delusional mirage of escape
seemed to always play a hand.
The scarcity of clouds in the sky
also played its part
as the silence on the winds
reflected the isolation in my heart.
