Guilt

Guilt is a common symptom of mental health illnesses.  Rest assured that you are not always in control of this emotion, and it is valid.  All emotions are valid.  However, guilt does not serve you during your endeavor back to health and wellness.  I urge you to lay it down.  Its hefty weight is no longer yours to bear.  You are not to blame.  You can, and you will survive this current health crisis.  You will also move through it more quickly without the burden of guilt you’ve been carrying for so long now.  No more chains for you.


 

I awoke my spirit this morning
to the usual feelings of shame.

While my circulating thoughts echoed
that I was the one to blame.

And to also serve as a reminder
the tumultuous cloud of rain,
began to hover above me
magnifying my heart's perpetual pain.
