Hypomania/Mania

Hypomania/Mania can feel like a tornado raging inside of you. Both your physical body and your thoughts can feel overwhelming, rapid, and chaotic. It can become challenging to concentrate or stay focused as your energy level skyrockets. Bringing awareness to your mood and feelings can be helpful. Practicing a state of mindfulness, presence, and deep breathing can often calm the spirit and illuminate the path home to wellness. Medication can also help tremendously to calm the storm raging inside.


 

Like a gust of wind, it hit me,
and my thoughts began to race

My body felt the pressure
of an accelerated pace

My speech became quite rapid
which was always the case

When the tornado raging inside me,
caused my heart and spirit to brace
